Install itokens
itokens runs only on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer) with macOS 14 or later; Intel Macs, Windows and Linux are not supported, because local AI runs on the Apple Silicon GPU. Pick the way you prefer; both give you the same app.
With the disk image (recommended)
- Download the latest
itokens_v<version>.dmgfrom the download page. - Open it and drag itokens onto Applications. If macOS asks for your password, enter your Mac's login password.
- Open itokens from Applications; the first time, click Open when macOS asks. Step by step, with pictures. To keep it in the Dock, right-click its Dock icon and choose Options, Keep in Dock.
With Homebrew (for Terminal users)
brew install --cask itokens-app/tap/itokens
Homebrew installs itokens in Applications and keeps it current with brew upgrade --cask itokens. New to Homebrew? You do not need it: the disk image above is all it takes. More in Homebrew.
Verify the download
Each release lists SHA-256 checksums in SHA256SUMS, and the app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without warnings. To check a download yourself:
shasum -a 256 itokens_v<version>.dmg # compare with SHA256SUMS on the release
spctl --assess -v /Applications/itokens.app # should say: accepted, source=Notarized Developer ID
First launch
itokens opens its window and puts the orb icon in the menu bar. It starts with a look at your Mac, asks your name and sets itself up; see Getting started. Closing the window keeps itokens running in the menu bar; choose Quit from the menu bar icon or the itokens menu to stop it.
